Business CompatibilityWhat this reading tells you
- Where your Five Elements lift each other up, where you may clash, and small ways to grow closer.
- It works for couples who are dating, engaged, or married. No one is a bad match.
- It reads two charts side by side, so both birth dates matter equally.
What a couple compatibility reading shows
Gunghap began as a way to compare a couple's saju before marriage, and it is still most often used by couples. This page makes three equal checks, a simplified part of the traditional method. How do your two Day Masters meet? Does one of you have an element the other lacks? Do your Day Branches form one of the Six Harmonies? You get a score out of 100, a grade and a short note on each. (Each check is explained in How our compatibility reading works.)
Couple compatibility example: Rain and Ocean
Imagine two fictional partners. One was born on April 12, 1993 at 9 a.m.; the other on November 7, 1995 at 6 p.m.
- Day Masters: Rain (gentler Water) and Ocean (bolder Water). Same element, which traditional readers describe as a pair who may understand each other quickly and may share similar blind spots.
- Balance: the first chart has no Wood; the second has some, so that gap is filled.
- Day Branches: Pig and Tiger, one of the Six Harmonies.
The result is 90 points, grade A. Even so, the reading's closing line reminds them not to take an easy match for granted.
How to read your couple compatibility result
Read the notes together, not just the number. A "feeding" pair (one element supports the other, as Wood feeds Fire) is traditionally read as one partner supporting the other. A "checking" pair (one element holds the other in check, as Water checks Fire) is traditionally read as friction, and it can just as well be read as a pair that keeps each other honest. Let the result start a conversation, not settle one.
Love compatibility questions
Can a low score still be a good relationship? Yes. The score cannot see kindness, effort or timing. It only adds up three checks between two charts.
Should we use this to decide whether to marry? Please don't. It is for reflection and fun, and that decision belongs to the two of you.
Does it matter who is Person A? No. Both birth dates count equally, and swapping them gives the same score.
What if I don't know my partner's birth time? Choose Time Unknown. The reading then uses six characters for that person.
