The warm floor of a mountain hut

In an old mountain hut in winter, the stone outside is cold, but someone has lit the fire under the ondol floor, and the room slowly warms from beneath. For a Rock, 2027 works a little like that. The year stem yin fire is your Jeong-in, the support star, steady warmth that holds you up without asking for anything back.

If you notice an unfamiliar willingness to let someone help you this year, follow it, and accept the first genuine offer without rushing to repay it.

Basis: Yin fire produces Mu (yang earth) with opposite polarity: Jeong-in.

Why being supported feels awkward for a mountain

When you are used to being leaned on, support can feel almost like an accusation, as if needing it means something has cracked. Jeong-in says otherwise: in saju, the resource star keeps a strong day master nourished and thinking clearly.

It is also the star of paperwork, study, and qualifications, the formal side of being backed up. Pick one certificate, license, or course you have been postponing and book the first step by early April.

Basis: Jeong-in is associated with learning, credentials, official documents, and nurturing support.

A neighbor on the same ridge

Someone may keep turning up on your ground this year: a sibling with strong views on a family plan, a coworker whose role overlaps yours, a friend starting the same business two streets away. Inside the branch of the Fire Goat (also called the Fire Sheep) year, the main hidden stem is yin earth (Gi), which for Rock is Geop-jae, the sharing star: earth beside earth, a field leaning against a mountain.

That can mean teamwork, and it can mean some tension over who owns what. When shared plans or credit come up, suggest writing the arrangement down while everyone is still in a good mood.

Basis: Gi (yin earth) and Mu (yang earth): same element, opposite polarity, so Geop-jae.

Lending on shared ground

Requests for help, including money, can come up in a sharing-star year. For Rock the wealth star is water, and the sharing star in the Goat branch means resources tend to move between you and the people around you. A clear limit keeps generosity easy to sustain.

If someone asks you for money, you can decide your limit first.

Basis: Earth controls water, so water is Rock's wealth star; Gi as Geop-jae also controls water, the classic picture of peers sharing wealth.

A small tree growing from the stone

At some point someone could hand you a role, such as team lead, class representative, or the person who signs off, and you would feel proud and a little weighed down at once. The middle hidden stem inside the Goat branch, yin wood (Eul), is Jeong-gwan for Rock, the structure star: a young plant rooting into mountain soil.

Roots hold earth in place, and responsibility can give your steadiness a shape others recognize. If a role is offered, ask for its limits in writing (hours, scope, and who backs you up) before saying yes.

Basis: Eul (yin wood) controls Mu (yang earth) with opposite polarity: Jeong-gwan.

Duty and support in one pillar

Duty and support usually seem to pull in different directions, yet this year they share a pillar for you. Classical saju has a name for a role backed by resources: Gwan-in sang-saeng, "the structure star feeding the support star." The rule-giver (wood) feeds the supporter (fire), which then feeds you (earth).

In daily life that can look like a position that comes with training, a boss who mentors, or a title that opens doors to learning. When you take on responsibility in 2027, ask directly what support comes with it.

Basis: Wood (Eul, structure star) generates fire (Jeong, support star), which generates earth: the classic Gwan-in sang-saeng pattern.

Family tables and slow words

For a mountain, love often means staying, year after year and dinner after dinner, with the words coming last. A support-star year softens the ground around family and elders, and talks with parents, teachers, or older friends can carry unusual warmth.

Resource energy is also the energy of receiving. At the next family meal, ask an older relative to tell a story about their own twenties, and listen without steering it.

Basis: Jeong-in is traditionally linked with the mother, elders, and nurturing relationships.

Two months when the ground shifts

Knowing ahead of time when things will move suits a mountain. Insects Awaken (Gyeongchip) on March 6 opens a Gye-myo month lasting until April 4; its stem yin water (Gye) is your Jeong-jae (steady money) and can pair with your own yang earth (Mu) in the Earth-Water stem combination, so a financial agreement can take shape early in spring.

Late summer, from Autumn Begins (Ipchu) on August 8 into early September, brings a Mu-sin month, with your own stem back in the sky, and the urge to work solo can resurface after a year of support and shared ground.

Handle agreements in March, and in August give yourself one project that belongs entirely to you.

Basis: By solar term: Insects Awaken (Gyeongchip) starts the Gye-myo month (March 6) and Autumn Begins (Ipchu) starts Mu-sin (August 8); for Rock, Gye is Jeong-jae, possibly joined in the Earth-Water stem combination (Mu and Gye).

Nothing in January needs to move

Mountains do not rush the calendar, and January needs no rushing either. Dates from New Year's Day to Ipchun on February 4, 2027 are read under Byeong-o, and for Rock the stem yang fire (Byeong) is Pyeon-in, a more independent, side-door kind of support than the direct warmth of yin fire (Jeong).

That is simply a different flavor. Keep every January plan where it is, and read those weeks as the tail of 2026.

Basis: Byeong (yang fire) produces Mu (yang earth) with the same polarity: Pyeon-in; the year pillar changes at Ipchun.

Thank-you notes from the ridge

By December you could feel oddly lighter, as if part of the weight you usually carry alone was shared out. A support year does that when you let it. Keep the warmth flowing both ways. On the 1st of each month, send a short thank-you (a text, a card, a voice note) to someone who supported you the month before, naming exactly what they did. Skipping a month is fine.

That is the whole practice.

Basis: Summary of Jeong-in, Geop-jae, Jeong-gwan for Rock.
